Time…where did it go?

Ad Networks, Affiliate Programs, Everyday BS, Project 11/05 1 Comment »

Not to say that I’ve ever had an abundance of time to get stuff done - I’m always, ALWAYS finding that this time of year any precious time is completely and utterly used up… Christmas Parties, Decorating the house, trying to keep up with added Christmas responsibilities (such as baking those darn christmas cookies!)… and the regular everyday responsibilities that are the other 11 months of the year.

So as I’m rambling on - I’ve neglected my project 11/05 - BADLY. I’ve managed to stay on top of my other product blog… but I’m lagging behind in pretty much everything else.

I’ve been searching for some good “FREE” software that might help me with organizing everything. But I think I’m going to stick with an Excel spreadsheet for 2006 when I decide what goals I’ve got for my little online venture - and to stay on top of all the affiliate programs I’ve signed up with.

… my bad!

But on a happy note I’ve made another 2 sales with Commission Junction. My one and only gripe with them so far is that the affiliate I’ve signed up under - the deep linking directly to products isn’t working and they’ve offered me a free feed for the Christmas rush - and as of yet I’m still waiting for them to send it to me.

… *le sigh*

Hope you all are having a super day :D

I should be really busy…

Blog Networks, Project 11/05, Web Development No Comments »

…haha, I’m such a slacker! The past few days I’ve not really been up to a whole lot of anything. It’s actually been rather nice, not having to worry about updating my sites. Not to say that they shouldn’t be updated - I’ve just been slacking :D

I’ve worked on my blog for the new blog network I’ve got in progress with Mark and Allan. Some of the ideas I have for it should be up and running by the end of the week (time willing) and then I’ll post some more info for you!

My Project 11/15 is still rumbling along and I’m feeling good about it. I had more traffic to the site last month than in October. I’m working on just doing the project through organic searches - and see how the traffic increases from there. I also submitted an article - and am waiting on approval from Ezine Articles - I had a little discrepency with the Author Signature and had to resubmit. So I’ll be checking to day to see if any more revisions need to be done.

Hope you are all having a great day…

Just a recap of what I had said I was going to do this week:

For my Gift Basket site, this week I plan to:

1. Write an article on making a great gift basket (unless I find another more “write-able” idea). - DONE
2. Submit article to article directories (3 if possible)
3. Add more products - DONE
4. Look into new domains to expand the site - but keep the focus on gift baskets exclusively… or should I do sub-domains for the other products… I’m debating over that one - any suggestions? anyone? - DONE
5. Find 2 link exchanges this week

…. So far I’ve managed to do 3 things - adding the products tho is an on-going project until I’ve got the month of December covered. Almost there… but not quite :) I wrote an article too about starting an offline/online gift basket business. Just your basics, but I think that people who want to start up something like that should be aware that there are some “complications” and that it takes a heaping load of patience to get something like that to fly on the Internet - since the competition for a gift basket site is pretty fierce. A challenge that I must be crazy to do, but I’m doing it - all for the sake of learning :)

So what’s left - submitting that article to article directories and two link exchanges… along with adding more products till the month of December is done.

I’ve also added sub-domains to the site, rather than splurging on individual domains to cover the other neat gift/food ideas that this site can work on… so far I’ve delved into the world of Appetizers. Haven’t really developed that sub-domain yet, but it’s there and shares the same theme as the main site, so people don’t get confused and the flow of the site is maintained :) Blah, blah, blah…

So that’s it so far - in a nutshell. I’m going to look into adding my article to GoArticles, Ezine Articles and try to find a third to submit my article too… *wish me luck* - this is my first time submitting my article!

BTW - Happy December :D

… I think 5 things to do this week for this site is alot. So I’ll be letting you know the step by step - gory details on how this week progresses. I’m still looking for other topics / niches to follow and try my hand at. I really like working on crafty-sort-of-sites, where I can learn as I write… so I’m not bored. If you get my drift. This week - I’ve set my challenges… and now I’m going see what I can whip up :)

Project 11/05 : The Update

Project 11/05 No Comments »

…. or lack of.

I’ve been busy with my other sites - just trying to keep the momentum going. I’ve really not felt like updating ANYTHING lately either. Which isn’t a good frame of mind either. I will say that since posting my gift basket website here - traffic has increased :) Must be a lot of curious people out there. Although I’m kind of surprised that I’ve not really got a lot of feedback - is it that bad? I’m not sure… but I’ll keep pluggin’ away at it.

I am going to be modifying the layout a little bit and make it a bit more unique to the products I’m selling. I’m looking into making the site more “gift oriented” - gift baskets, flowers, unique gifts, appetizers… etc. just to get the content up and make it a bit more interesting for people who stop by.

I was wondering if making it to broad in offerings might turn people off - or make less sales? Opinions on that?

I think I’ll give the broad aspect a try with this site and see how it does. I have to remind myself that this is a test…. a test of patience!

So far I’ve got products going till the end of the month. I’m going to have to write up a couple of articles - as I’ve mentioned in past posts. Work on some sub-domains for the site - to include flowers, gifts, appies and whatnots without breaking out of the template - so people know they’re still on the right site… as you all know about when it comes to web design.

After feeling terrible yesterday and accomplishing nothing on any of my sites, I’m hoping that today will be more productive!
