This is how we do it…

Yesterday I took the plunge and went head-first into purchasing OIOPublisher.  OMG… why didn’t I do this sooner?  Oh right… I’m stubborn and want to save a few bucks.  In all honesty OIOPublisher for $37 is a great deal if you have WordPress and you’re interested in selling ad space on your site.

Seriously, I can’t be happier with the plugin software. I didn’t realize that you can even have an affiliate program with this thing.  If you’re so inclined to do.  It’s crazy!  I set up the 125×125 ad zone in under 5 minutes… I think it took 5 minutes because I had to create a 125×125 holding image.  You can even add text links, banners, custom zones for ads, inline ad space, reviews, RSS - I would have to say all the major ad spots have been covered.

I also like that they have a marketplace - something extra to push the site forward a bit.

I really am glad I “splurged” and purchased the program - it integrates easily (with widgets for the sidebar) and for someone like me - the ability to add or remove ad spots is great.  I also like that you can purchase the plugin and then use it on multiple sites.  There is no per-site licensing.  LOVE IT.  So I’m going to see if I can get it going on a couple of my sites and see what happens.

It’s not so much getting rid of the middle-man… because selling any 125×125 slots has always been up to me… I just love the easiness of it and the fact that I can no longer say I’m a  totally cheap bastard :D

When they come to your rescue

The other day I was chatting about the cool program I found called PicApp.  I still think it’s a pretty great idea for the low budget blogger who wants to showcase images on their site without the hassle of copyright laws.  Anyway…

In that last article I wrote about how I was having a hell of a time aligning the image to have the text wrap around it.  Honestly I’d pretty much given up on it and was hoping that you out there who tried it out - were having better luck than I was.

But wouldn’t you know it… I got a comment from Dave - who is from PicApp - who HELPED ME!  I didn’t even ask for the help, he just stopped by to help me out.  It worked too!  As you can tell now the article now wraps nicely around the image.  So if you’re having the same problem I was - then I highly recommend checking out his comment and it will solve the wrapping problem I was having.

I just want to give Dave a little shout out for being really helpful and sorting that out for me.    THANK YOU.  I can’t say that happens very often and when it does happen it sure sticks with me and makes me feel that there are people out there who care about what they’re promoting and what they offer and they’re willing to help you out if you’re hitting a snag.

So check out PicApp and give it a whirl.

In case you’ve not heard or put your name on the mailing list you will want to get on it ASAP and learn about great offers that are happening over at 1month.co.uk.  Every month a new product is put on the site and each day the price goes up.

So starting today you can get your hands on the 5 Starred script which is awesome if you’re looking to start a Top Sites list - it will capture the thumbnail images of the sites put in the list (what a time saver!) and you can add as much detail to the listings or as little - I love it because of it’s flexibility.

If your not sure if this is what your looking for - today it’s on sale for $1.  Seriously - that’s nothing and as each day of April rolls on by the price increases by a $1.  So the early bird definitely gets the worm in this case.

I went ahead and picked up the script - and it’s pretty great.  I’ve set it up on a site and it’s working just as described.  I know who owns the site, and he’s the top drawer when it comes to his scripts and products.

So stop over and check out what he’s got going on this month, if it doesn’t interest you - get on the mailing list to be alerted of new products in the coming months.

Listening and Reading and Learning

Everyday BS, NoteWorthy, Web Development No Comments »

For the past couple of days I’ve been doing a few things that I normally do - like read my RSS feeds, visit blogs, do silly polls, and just basically fritter away my time - until I feel like working and then I spend the next few hours doing that… then I’m tired.  I go to bed.

But out of my usual routine I came across WAHM Radio.  Now, I’m not at all interested in this sort of thing… usually.  I find it so “not me”.  I am a mom, for a while I was at home, but I just am not that “motherly” - or rather I seem browbeaten to think that I have to be when I visit most of these sites.  Meh - it’s just not me.  So why did I end up listening to a WAHM Radio segment?

It was about Alice Seba selling off one of her sites - Internet Based Moms.  It was making her good money - why give it up?  I really wanted to know.  So I stayed around and listened.  She made sense.

When a site becomes so totally consuming as her site did - it loses that appeal.  Perhaps new blood is needed to make things fresh again, with the enthusiasm it had once started out with.  I totally get that.  I think that had to have been a bit of a hard decision for her… but she did it.  She feels good about it.  It wasn’t a bad podcast.

If you’re interested in that sort of thing… a break from the usual.

I also liked her thoughts on the whole - eggs in one basket - story.  I was listening to her, and thought if I could have done it all over again, knowing what I know now.  I wouldn’t have just bought domains and dreamed that they would make me money with a few pages put up and no real work put in.  I would have been focused on an idea.  Work it up and then expand - as she says within the same sort of area, then you’re not starting at ziltch every time - and that can be so very hard to break into.

I think I’m going to read some more and then make my next move :)  I know what’s working, now I need to expand on it.

Howzabout a little inspiration

Super Affiliat Mindset and the Black Amex CardWe’re all hoping that things work out for us in affiliate marketing - or why would we even bother.  Hoping that the ideas we’re trying out on the interent - that one… just one will stick and you’ll know what you’ve done to make it stick and then repeat it and start making some money.  Probably wouldn’t say no to serious money… right?

Well by way of ShoeMoney I came across the site Super Affiliate Mindset.   He’s one of those fella’s that has made good money working as an affiliate marketer.  This is what he mentions on his site:

I won’t bludgeon you with yearly membership fee or what it takes to qualify for a black card, although I can tell you spending $1000s a day on pay-per-click advertising helps!

Could that be a tip to making things work online - working the PPC angle?  Something I’ve only dabbled in… and it’s not like I’ve got thousands to throw at it.  Maybe I need to start researching and start small - and see where it goes.  Maybe just take it all in and start reading his blog :)
