Checkin’ da Stats

I am really starting to love Google Analytics. I installed it on my Fansite #1 and it’s rather interesting to take a peek into the discrepancies between Awstats and Google. Not much of one, but it’s still rather interesting to take a peek into. I love analytics because I can narrow down the visitors to the city that they’re IP is from. I’m finding that my fansite, which would be more geared towards the American market (because it’s an American show) is really rather popular in the UK. I would never have thought that myself. It’s eye-opening when I can get into the nitty gritty of the site and maybe that information will pay off later down the road in regards to what I’m advertising on the site.

FanSite #1 had a bit of an index page facelift - I was finding that the ad promos I’d put there for CPA weren’t doing well at all. Lots of eyeballs - not a lot of clicks and even less conversions. I’m going to keep my eye out for better offers more geared towards the topic or along the same lines, but I stuck more Adsense in their spot and we’ll see how that flies.

I also changed the colours of the Adsense ads on the main page. I’m now back to blending it in. Maybe the change will attract more clicks, or maybe I’ll test this out and go then go back to a more in your face approach. Or try different ad sizes. Ohhh the possibilities.

Help Bear
Help Bear pay some vet bills Now I’m not into giving to just any random charity or “help me I’m broke” type deal, but when I read this over at Mark’s site - I swung by because I’m a big ol’ softie when it comes to cats. I read the story and it hit me on two levels - one I love cats… hate to see a sick cat if it can be helped. Do it. Also Jon (Bear’s owner) had a stroke and is on disability and paying the vet bills isn’t really an option. That too hit really close to home and I guess the story hit all the right heart strings and I sent him $10 via his Buy me a Beer promo.

I’m not going to push it - but if you read the story. Feel it’s the right thing to do - then please do it. The story is over here.

Jon if you read this - I’d love to hear how the donation drive is coming along!

Yesterday I was so freakin’ gung-ho to get my organizational skills suped up and work on a site - based on my 10 steps from yesterday. I was so ready. But life kind of got in the way - and things were a bit delayed. But I did manage to get on the computer and guess what….

…. hahahaha.

I got completely sidetracked. I went into NeverBlueAds and searched for some good campaigns that I could post on my 10 step site. I found some great campaigns - that were paid per lead/sale. A nice combination. But while I rooted around in their available campaigns - I found other great offers for other sites that I have. OMG. I was in 7th heaven. Then I realized that I’d spent about an hour and a half looking at these damn offers and I hadn’t put any up on the 10 step site.

It was a great distraction - lots of potential. Just mad at myself of getting so carried away. LOL.

I went to CJ to look for some marketing material - and I’ve found that they’ve now switched over to the funky javascript for links on my account. I just find it so freakin’ annoying - why you ask? - because when I loaded the javascript onto my page - it broke my layout. AAAAHHHHHRRRRRG! So then I went back into CJ and tried their “legacy” link for the ad - and guess what! It didn’t work. I didn’t get the HTML code. I got the javascript spat out at me again. It was for the “content” links they provide. I’m not sure how the image ads work - but I was completely frustrated by the system… so I’m going to look for alternatives…. such as NeverblueAds or ClickBooth or ShareaSale or NetShopsAffiliates or LinkShare or even ClickBank.

So after looking through the offers - I’m hoping the ones that I’ve found I’ll be able to do something with on my site tonight. LOL. Maybe.

All Quiet on the Western Front

It’s the end of the month. I’m having a very hard time to get motivated. Last night I sat in front of my computer and basically wasted about an hour and a half just going through some stats… looking at some affiliate programs I have up and running and checking to see if any of them had been productive in the past few days since I last checked.

I’d have to say that I’m pretty darn happy that I checked NeverBlueAds - I forgot I had a couple of text ads running from them and realized when I signed in, I had made a $1.25. I know, not much for sure… but when you’re expecting a big fat $0. It was a little boost in the right direction. Which also made me thing a bit more about adding them to other sites that I have up and running that are currently making me squat… in clicks.

I have that monkey on my back that is my Dance Music Site. I’m not sure if the whole genre is dying out - or what. But Google doesn’t pay me well at all. Very, Very sad. So either the market is super saturated or there just isn’t any requests for my dance music love. A couple of years ago I was pulling in $10 a month… now I’d be lucky to see $1-2. It’s depressing. Why am I hanging on to Adsense on my dance site? Because I’ve been lazy and haven’t really put anything else up… for a while. I’ve found that Adsense - although insanely low - was placing relevant ads on my site. I haven’t found any other ad company who could do that.

But with my little success from NeverBlueAds - I thought maybe instead of adding CPC - I’d place CPA / Lead ads on there instead - in a text format (seem to perform better than graphics… but I’ll test that theory)… and see what happens next. I might put the text ads in an ad rotator - so there is variety when someone returns to the site. I think this will be my project for today.

Because it’s the end of the month - I just feel like slacking… when really I should be planning for May. But I think a few days off will do me good… after I change up my ads for my Dance Music Site.
