In the past I’ve sold several of my domain names that I had purchased - most were undeveloped from ideas I’d had, the idea that I could make a few dollars with parking the domains at Sedo or NameDrive, or just to have… status symbol…. yo.  Well, the last one not really - but I’ve always wanted to say that… LOL.

I’ve not had any luck selling domains for more than the minimum price.  Even those that had a little PR, a few backlinks, a history.  Seriously… no one was interested.  It wasn’t that the prices were totally out of this world either.  I had priced a few at what I’d paid for them - and thought maybe I could get some money back.  But no such luck.  Maybe I’ve not advertised in the right places?  I’m not sure.  I’ve seen people try to sell crappy (that’s just what I think…) domain names for $250.  I mean if they can sell them - good for them! - they might want to tell me their secret to success… because I can only get people to bite, when they’re dirt cheap.

I think that falls into the whole - everyone wants a deal.  I want a deal.  But maybe there is a bit of a drop in the aftermarket - I found this post over at Traffick about what he’d found over at DigitalPoint.

Makes me wonder if the selling domains - the aftermarket - is starting to slip?

I know that there was a bit of a surge in the domain aftermarket earlier in 2006.  I’m sure that there is a market for domain names, and I think there is a lot to selling them - good domain name, short domain name, catchy domain name, years that it’s been live, are there backlinks… that sort of thing.

So I’m wondering if maybe instead of selling the domain names - that are mostly undeveloped - but have been “live” for a few years now, that I should set up a site - add unique content, get a few backlinks and try to sell it that way.  I’m sure I could make a few more dollars doing it that way rather than selling just the domain for cheap.

Hmmm… makes me wonder.

Kitchen4Me.com is for sale.  Going for the super cheap price of $8.88 at NameCheap.  This would be an idea niche site for kitchen goods or products.  I just don’t have time to develop it and it would be nice to see it go to a good home
