I don’t know what’s happening but Twitter is all over the place. People are blogging about it like it’s something new… do I take it so far as to say revolutionary?
It’s been around for a while now… so why all the buzz. I don’t get it? I mean I get what Twitter is and how it would be very beneficial to let people know what you’re doing - keep it relavent to your blog and you’ll be laughing. I’ve noticed that there are a lot o “twits” out there who twitter about almost everything - and some of it is actually interesting and I enjoy twittering back at them. Recently with the upsurge of twitterings - I’ve actually got a few people on my list that I wouldn’t have met otherwise - and honestly I enjoy chatting with them in this random fashion. It actually works for me and how I manage to get through my evenings of online adventure.
But I’m just wondering why all the whoopla over Twitter… now of all things. I like twitter… I even have an account for this site - and you can see from the sidebar today I don’t have it up. I’ve had quite a few people subscribe to my twitter lately and I’m sure it’s been a LONG time since I’ve used on this site specifically. Maybe I’ll bring it back… along with sexy.
I guess in this big ramble is that I enjoy Twitter - and at first I didn’t really know what it was good for. But lately I’ve gotten into showcasing what’s on my site and I’m looking into if I’ll get leads from using it. Hell, even connecting with people who share similar interests is always cool too. I’m just wondering why all the fuss right now. There was a lot when it first came out - and now I’m wondering if it’s finally finding it’s wings (so to speak) and people are utilizing it now for what it was meant to be used for - and now they’re figuring it out and talking about it?
Have you noticed an increase in “Twitterings” lately?
Well, I still think the way Joel originally did this offer was not the right way to do it. Now he’s taking a step back and correcting the big mess-up with the Adsense Secrets 4 ebook offer. You have to hand it to Joel for realizing it and making the changes. You can read more about what happened and what Joel is doing over at John Chow’s site (where I’d originally heard about the offer for Joel’s ebook).
Doing what Joel is doing, I think sets him apart from those affiliate marketers who are out just to screw us over. I don’t know if that was an initial tactic to hide the recurring billing - or just an oversight on Joel’s part. But coming back - admitting that it wasn’t the right way to do things and now making changes - offering 2 package deals and then to top it off - DONATING to Hearts and Hands over the next two weeks - that is awesome.
“For two weeks, starting on April 20, 2008, I will be donating 100% of the profits from direct sales of AdSense Secrets 4 to a very worthy organization, Hearts and Hands International”
You can read what Joel has to say about what happened with his ebook - and what he plans on doing to correct the screw up. Click here to read what Joel has to say.
Wow, this morning as I was reading my usual round of bloggy goodness I read an article by Mark over at 45n5 about the latest buzz going around the Internet - the Joel Comm: Adsense Secrets 4. I had seen a link to it from John Chow’s site and I went there to check it out. It really seemed like a steal of a deal for $9.95 and I thought that it would definitely be in my budget to buy… but when I clicked to buy it asked for my credit card - and I’m not overly comfortable doing that (my choice is PayPal…) but whatever. I got up and walked away to think about it and was thinking today I’d put in an order.
But hold up what’s this?? Mark found a very interesting line of text on the site - where you’ll be putting in $29 a month recurring until you cancel for his membership… ahhhh - that’s the catch 22. Cheap book, sign up and hopefully no one will notice the recurring billing and Joel makes more money.
That is really scuzzy.
When I went to pay the other day - it was for the ebook. I honestly didn’t see anything about the $29 recurring fee. Seriously - I’m not dumb and I can read… and I didn’t see that anywhere. Obviously I missed what Mark found.
Have you ever had one of those days where you just couldn’t concentrate on just one thing. It didn’t matter if you’ve got the mighty to-do list out and sitting right there infront of you. It just isn’t helping you focus on the task at hand… or for that matter any of the tasks on that list.
I’m sitting here with about 6 things on my list. Some of the tasks will take up some time - for sure, quiet a bit of my time over the next week - in fact I’m falling a bit behind on these tasks, so not being able to get a grip and focus is not doing me any favours. So what do I do - I’ve got this nifty little tool on my desktop from Google - it’s like a sidebar that you can add stuff to it. Like a to-do list, photos, etc and it’s really handy and with it I found a timer that will give me a timed “micro break” and a bigger break after a certain amount of time. Which is awesome, because I think I spend way too much time in front of the computer and I need to actually take a break from staring at the screen, get up and get something to drink… just get away for a little then get back at it a bit more refreshed.
On most days that works - it works great. Today… not so much.
I am still here, just crazy busy with my little side project that I’ve not had a whole heck of a lot of time to much else. Which is kind of sad, because I’m still surfin’ your sites and seeing some really great stuff that I’d love to comment about or write about and currently my time is just getting eaten up by my side-project.
Anyway enough about that - I have to say that I’ve seen a bit of an increase in my daily Adsense income from my sites - it isn’t anything to scream about, but damn it I’m pretty happy to see it going up instead of the other way around (no matter how small an amount it is).
On other news - I’m still working on sites to promote affiliate products but damn it’s crazy trying to find the time to get them looking the way I want them to be. I’ve really been trying to focus my time on the tasks at hand - using a notebook to jot down the ideas and get a little daily to-do list going so I can see where I’ve been and what I still need to do and guess what - I’m going to book some time AWAY FROM THE COMPUTER at the end of April. :) It’s my birthday then and damn it this girl needs a break :D Hehe.
Well, I just thought I’d give a wee update as to where I’ve been and what I’m doing and I’m not MIA. Just busy - like everyone else… and I’m just playing a wicked game of catch-up!
