Sometimes it’s about what keeps you passionate

You’d think I was writing for a dating site with a title like that… haha. Today, for the first time I sat and watched Jim Kukral’s video that he does on his flip camera/video thingy. Now it was one where it was unscripted and about 15 minutes long. You can see the video here:

Jim asks us what we think of the new style he’s done with this video and I have to say that I really enjoyed it. Jim has a very easy speaking style and the idea of it being unscripted made it fun to listen to. Now I have to admit I’ve not really listened to his other videos, but if this video is anything like the others - I’ll be stopping by more often to hear what he has to say. I think the very big thing for me in this video comes closer to the end. It’s about being passionate about what you like to do - he goes through what he likes to do, if he chose other options would he make more money - he figures he might, but that is just not him. It wouldn’t make him happy. For the past 10 years he’s decided on projects that will make him happy. Will give him a sense of fulfillment.

I have to say - how many of us can be honest with what we’re doing online in the way Jim is. Are we doing things we like never mind are passionate about - or are we chasing ideas and dreams because people tell us this is the way to make money.

A few months ago I decided I was going to do something that I really enjoyed. I didn’t have one clue as to how to even start, but it’s been something I’ve enjoyed for a very long time - this goes back to around 1997 when I was introduced to the whole thing. Sounds crazy - but since that time I’ve always enjoyed what I was doing. I LOVED it. The passion for what I’m doing currently has never left me. I honestly can’t say that about much in my life. My new project… it is what is making me happy.

You know what…

… it isn’t about selling other peoples products. It’s more about selling… me and what I can do. It cost me nothing - for the longest time I was killing myself with affiliate marketing, and now I’m doing something more on the fringe of affiliate marketing - more assisting with ideas, brands, etc. It is something I truly enjoy. I can do this for hours and it doesn’t feel like a J-O-B. Sure there are days that aren’t so shit hot. But seriously those days aren’t all that common. I love what I’m doing right now.

How did I come to this point? Well, like I said I’ve enjoyed this part of working online as far back as 1997 (eek… does that make me old!!), only in the past few months did I decided to really focus on advertising it - putting myself out there. So far, I’ve been doing pretty well. I started with no budget. All I had was a website - and a dream :)

Hard work.

Passion for the subject.

… and feeling like I’m getting somewhere - rather than that horrible treading water feeling I’d had for such a long time. It’s still early days, but I’m feeling really positive about.

It’s only taken me 3 years to figure that part out, LOL. Have you figured out what you love yet?

  1. Jim Kukral Says:

Thanks! It truly is, for me, about doing what you love. Life is short. The money will come if you do what you love. Have fun! Don’t be afraid to try something.

It will be more difficult to create and work on something that you are not passionate about. I wrote a guest post on this exact subject on John Cow a couple of weeks ago.

If you love the project or subject that you are working on, you will want to work on it and end up with a better result in the end.
