Focusing on Design

Everyday BS, Web Development, WordPress No Comments »

There are tons of designs available for us out there when it comes to skinning our Blogs. I’ve been working on a few designs myself and I’m always downloading the freebies when I see them, because you never know when something like that would come in handy for your next project and you don’t have time to design or buy.

But here’s my question to you.

For your next project:

a. Would you be more inclined to use a freebie theme (that you and hundreds of others might have).

b. Would you purchase a pre-made design?

c. Would you go completely custom and hire a designer to make you one?

I’m leaning more towards going for a pre-made one and then tweaking it myself.  The custom sites are a bit more expensive, and I don’t think I would personally do that myself until I knew the site was taking off, or that I was super passionate about the subject and wanted to individualize it. I guess it really depends on the situation…

What do you do?

It’s 10:30 at night… and I don’t know what to do next!

Everyday BS 1 Comment »

Well here I am sitting around after working on a project and I’m not even sure what to do next.  I’ve been listening to videos a la YouTube.com and vegging out.  I guess that’s what happens after working, working, working… and then you hit a wall.  Internet-Coma!

Well, I suppose I could use a bit of a break and actually enjoy farting around and just surfing without a real agenda.  Until tomorrow ;)  But that’s tomorrow and I’ve got about 25 minutes before I’m going to bed… which is about 2 hours earlier than usual.  Which I am so very looking forward too!

I’ve got another little side-project in the works and we’ll see how that works out for me.  I’m also thinking of the 30 day challenge for us to work towards making some money - it would be free to sign up and partake in and I’m still looking for anyone who’d like to offer a prize?

Contact me if you’re interested in supplying a prize.

Thinking of a good name

Blogosphere Links No Comments »

Burt over at osWorld has a new idea and a cool widget (if he gets enough interest) where it’s very similar to Scratchback.   His product as he explains it:

How is it different to Scratch Back?

Well, IF I release it;

  • I’ll give no support
  • I’ll take no commission
  • It can be designed by you, to fit your blog completely
  • I’ll want 1 linkback from every site it’s used on

In essence, if you need support/help/tuition/hand holding, then you need to go to someone who can offer this. In return they will want payment. If you have enough skill to be able to amend your template, FTP and copy/paste then you might want to consider using my script.

A Marketplace for link sellers

I’m sure that the Scratch Back people have something like this planned - it’s definitely needed. If I release my version, I think it would be quite easy to make a little site on which people can add their own sites that use the script.

Personally I like the idea of not having to deal with the middleman and giving a link back for using the product doesn’t seem like a bad idea.  What I’ve noticed about products like this though is that without the Middleman to promote the link sales or have an area where you can see who else is using the script to do an exchange, etc makes it a difficult task to be successful with it and often more times than not we give up on it because it is “too hard”.

With this yet un-named product from Burt he’s looking to take care of that concern with the development of a marketplace.    I’m hoping like Burt, that Scratchback comes up with something similar - it’s hard to find others using the product… so that would be really excellent to have.

So if you think you could use this product - stop by and let Burt know you would be interested.   If there is enough interest Burt will code it up for us to use!

The Debt Settlement Company

Site Reviews No Comments »

If I can say one thing about the Debt Settlement Company, it’s that they have a very nice looking site design.

Perhaps we’ve been in a situation where we might need credit card debt help (can anyone say post-Christmas!). I can imagine the stress that being in debt can cause on a person, a couple, a family. It sucks. No one wants to be in that sort of position. Stress kills relationships. Kills a credit report too. You just don’t want to be in a bad situation, but sometimes that happens. Maybe it has to do with a bad situation, bad luck or just plain poor money management skills. What ever the situation was, there is a solution to get help and get out of credit debt and get the credit card debt help you need.

At the Debt Settlement Company they give you a selection of options to choose from. If you go through them they can get you a lower payment rate, in a shorter amount of time you could be out of debt and get the credit card consolidation that you need to get on with your life and leave debt behind you.

I think with the Christmas holidays coming up and perhaps Black Friday hit your credit card a bit hard and you’re thinking “how am I going to get out of this one??” You might want to check out the Debt Settlement Company and see what kind of options they have to help you out.

What goes around…

Everyday BS No Comments »

Apparently I’ve been spending too much time over at YouTube, but when I saw David Sides play the piano, well, I loved it and I’m sharing it :)

This one is Justin Timberlake’s - What Goes Around played by David Sides.

Now I’m off back to work after that lovely distraction :)
