I’ve been converting some of my blogs into static sites. For the past few weeks I’ve seen my blogs bounce all over the place with placement in the search engines and I’ve got a couple of static sites that have maintained their momentum and their positioning in that same amount of time. I’m not converting them all. I so love WordPress and my blogs - but there are a couple I’m just going to switch over because I don’t have oodles of time to dedicate to them… right now. Eventually yes, but not right at this very minute.

I’m working on growing this little thing that has been good to me so far.

In fact it’s the most successful thing I’ve managed to pull off in any consistent manner - go figure! LOL. I’m thinking of mixing it up a little - get a few blogs together with those static sites and grow my little venure onwards and upwards.

I am really looking forward to it.

Last night I had a momentary… omg… this isn’t going to work - all this work and so little return. But I had to remind myself that I’ve been doing this for so long and seriously - this is the best return I’ve had. So what the hell it’s extra cash. I’m going to be working on it. Working on the sites, so I’m not totally reliant on one form of income. More baskets… more eggs. Trying not to back myself into a corner sort of thing.

From there… we’ll see how it rolls.

I’ve been looking at Sitepoint lately in regards to perhaps one day purchasing a pre-existing site that is making some money and then working from there to grow my empire a little at a time. Just to add to the way things are right now. Honestly buying a site may help me, because that’s always the nerve-wracking moments… will it be picked up by the search engines, will I have thought this through, will it show results. Where as if I buy a website, and they have the stats and income and all that good stuff and it shows me that it’s proven and has potential to make me money. I’d like to check it out.

I’m not looking at buying something that’s $1000’s of dollars, so my website pool is limited to starting out small… I’m not even sure it’s possible. Sites I’ve seen that are in my current price range - honestly look terrible and have no PR and from what I can tell are relatively new with no real proven record.

I’m wondering if there are sites that you might be able to recommend that sell websites besides Sitepoint that are reputable and perhaps you’ve had luck with a website purchase in the past?

Apparently I’m not the only one who’s felt it time for a blog redesign. First ProBlogger did it and now John Chow has done a big one too. I have been thinking about doing a re-design of Building My Empire and I’m not even sure where to start, but I know that I’m getting a little tired of the look.

Since I love to design - I figure I’d wing it myself and try my hand at making a wordpress template. I’ve been doing a bit of research and it should be nice and painful - just the way I love it. LOL. Not really, but the ideas that are floating through my mind right now will need a bit of luck and good coding. But I’m sure I can put something together… or if worse comes to worse I’ll be using this theme for a while to come.

So I’m figuring it will take a few months before I can get something put together… I’m looking forward to it

I am so sick and tired of reading those damn guest blogger articles. Actually I should be honest - I’m tired of skimming those damn guest blogger articles. I can’t remember the last time I saw a guest blogger article I truly enjoyed.

I understand you don’t want a lull in your writing schedule when you take a break. Totally understand. I also know that you can post date an article or two in place of nothing, if you didn’t have your guest bloggers.

I am fed up of starting to read a blog… going…wait a minute… this isn’t so and so blogger… this is a want-to-be-stand-in. I understand the guest blogger is looking to promote their ideas. Sure… totally… understand. I also know my bitching about guest bloggers isn’t going to change anything either.

But damn, there seems to be a ton of guest blogging happening lately and I’m just saying…

… I’m freakin’ tired of it.
