Since the whole Registerfly problem I had (along with anyone who had domains with Registerfly after iCann), I’ve run into a couple of problems.
One - some of my Registerfly domains were switched to GoDaddy - without any approval from me. Probably some sort of small type after the whole iCann thing. So I am now working with GoDaddy for a few of my domains. Now I’m not too keen on GoDaddy, and I’m less than thrilled that I have my domains with them of all domain registrars.
So I had some domains that needed to be renewed. I had to request a password - that never came and I forgot about the renewals. Then I get another email from them, I send in for another password - and I repeat the cycle.
Last night I realized that one of my domains that I didn’t want to lose - is gone. I can get it back… for $80. For FARKS SAKE I HATE THAT.
Purely my fault, but damn I need to blame someone for being behind on the password times. I finally got a password, but now this is complicated by the fact that they need info that I don’t think they have - for this domain because of all the transferring crap that happened… without me saying “OK” to. Damn it.
Totally frustrated.
I’m starting to transfer out the domains that I want to keep… and see if I can do that.  I’ve heard that it’s harder to get domains transferred out from GoDaddy. We’ll see how it goes.

Some of this sounds like the trouble I had with them, though, and I WAS on top of things. When I changed my email address with GoDaddy, I did not also change it with their parent company or something (totally separate site and login) because I didn’t know it existed! I never got an email from that side of the company, or anything to inform me they had my account info. It was more than a little strange.

I think I’ve transferred a couple of domains away from Godaddy without any problems. The only things I really dislike are their control panel (horrible interface) and the fact that they insist on emailing me every time I do anything to my domain - even changing the REGISTRAR-LOCK field. I’ve not had anything go wrong though… yet.

I am seriously hoping that the transfers of the domains are as hassle free as possible. I found the interface to be pretty bulky as well Paul - and I got those emails for every little thing I did too. I could see why they’d be handy… but at the same time they’re a bit of a pain in the butt.
Sapphire - seriously… what’s up with the login info!?! It’s almost like they’re hoping for that so they can take a little extra.
*SIGH*

I’ve transferred domains from godaddy to moniker last year, supprisingly it wasn’t too painful once you get used to godaddy’s ridiculously messy interface.
