Surfing through the usual RSS feeds I read PimpmyPagerank’s latest article on PayPerPost.com - it appears that they’re now open to everyone… now with International flavour. So of course, me being a curious person signed up. It was pretty easy - took 5 minutes to fill out the form, I am assuming that they pay via PayPal and you can cruise through their opportunities and blog about topics and make some extra cash.
I did a bit of looking around (I’ll be looking at it again tonight when I have more a chance to spend some time on it) - but I think to stay legitimate with your blog… and earn money… it is best to blog about something in your niche - or blog about something you know about (and then talk about on your blog) to keep things legitimate and then everyone gets what they want. Advertisers want to post on legitimate sites that will increase their exposure and you the blogger get paid. Cha-ching.
If you’re curious about what PayPerPost has to offer - Check them out. I like the interface they have - quick form, quick acceptance to the program and perhaps an opportunity or two or five to make a few dollars on. I’d be curious to see how they add up to the other program I’ve tried - BloggingAds.com. At least with PayPerPost they have an actual interface to see what you’ve earned, etc. BloggingAds.com was through email - with a quick payout. I’m curious how this will work out.

I think it’s fine if you find something on there you’d normally chat about or find interesting, but I’ve seen a number of blogs that have lost my respect by posting totally off topic stuff all of the sudden to make like $5 bucks…
For those who have done it, you’ll quickly find your way off of my rss daily read and website cruising.
The way you’ve used it above is entirely appropriate. You reviewed something related to your blog topic.

“For those who have done it, you’ll quickly find your way off of my rss daily read and website cruising.”
I find this sort of attitude amazing. I think a lot of blog readers are a little too full of their own self-importance. Want to stop reading my blog because you’re not happy with me writing a paid post? Fine - don’t let the door hit our ass on the way out.
I just don’t understand what it is about some blog readers who think that they’re important enough to dictate to bloggers what they can and can’t do with their blogs.
Sheesh, it’s a freaking blog, not an academic journal. Let me get this straight - you want to read my content for free, you want me to fork out for the hosting to provide you with the content, you want me to do all the research and writing of the content for free, then you have the temerity to threaten me with some sort of “delisting” from your rss reader if I don’t fit within your predetermined idea of what I can and can’t do on my blog?
I’ll write about whatever I damned well please in my blog, if you like it, you’re welcome to hang around, and get involved, if you don’t, you’re welcome to bite me.
That’s the kind of reader I can do without.

I’m surprised you didn’t opt for https://payperpost.com/blogger/opportunity/detail/312 when you posted about PayPerPost- with a little humor twist you could turn your post into $10.50!
PayPerPost does look interesting, although the payouts on most topics are very low. For a $3.00 post I’m not going to spend my usual hour writing an in depth posting- quality takes time and multiple revisions.
I agree with Digger about finding topics that already match your blog, and I like the fact that you can associate multiple blogs with the service that cover different subject areas.
I also agree with Stu that the threat of not reading my blog if I make a paid post is an idle one. I love my readers dearly but I wouldn’t shed a tear if one of them left

I think the occassional paid post isn’t a bad thing - we do have bills to pay (hosting, renewal of domain…etc).
I agree with Digger on the idea that if we do payperblog - then try for a topic that is covered by your blog. I don’t think me blogging about bong pipes will go over very well here… or would it
But anyway I can understand the that too many off topic articles can be hard to manage… but it can make a blog a little more exciting too.
As Stu said, many of our blogs are personal - not academic… so basically we can blog about anything we want too.
… also as Chance mentions - I think one has to be a bit picky as to the offers to take when doing payperpost. Some offers are very low - and you’re giving them PR, a shoutout… good lovin’ for not much in return.
I think it’s a personal choice, and I’m one of those people who loves to check new things out - and if I find those new things through PayPerPost… and the price is right then I’ll take it

[...] Firstly, let me make the point that this is not a personal attack on Digger, sorry mate, but your comment over at Building My Empire was just the straw that broke the camels back. [...]

You’ve got my vote for bong pipes

Whoa! Somebody took my tone wrong!
I was simply emphasizing that someone thinking this is going to cover their apartment bills and that their blog will still have the same appeal is mistaken.
Posting 100 entries a month on totally unrelated crap is not appealing.
So Stu, you can do whatever the heck you want, I’m not saying you can’t, I’m just pointing out that someone could seriously destroy a readership they’ve built over years in only a few weeks.
If you’re in it for the money (which apparently someone would be to use payperpost) there are much better ways to go about it that are productive and on topic.
That is all.
