Oops I did it again

Everyday BS, My Websites, Web Development Add comments

I think I manage to make people pretty pissed at me. Perhaps rightly so. When I bought the the Mesothelioma domain name - and initially I was very interested in what Google Adsense could do for the site. I will be perfectly honest that initially it was for the money - supposedly it paid well through Google - and I wanted to see if it was true.

I won’t deny that.

I had placed the domain on Sedo for a while as I contemplated what to do next with it. If you’ve been following along you’ll remember when I felt that I’d sold my soul to the devil for it too… because 90% of sites for this topic are spam/scraper sites. The owners want the money and that’s it. Screw the content - is it relevant? Does it mean anything? Not so much. I figured if I’d bought the site - I should make it worth something to people who had the cancer.

Of course some people think I’m garbage. My sites are in Google purgatory…. well - not quite, but the few that I talk about seem to be there (so you get your wish!). I’m not afraid about the flack. Everyone is entitled to an opinion. In the reality of my world - I am working on building a site that has useful content - not scraped garbage. Resources and links - that’s what I ended up doing for this site. Is there google there - yes. I need to pay the hosting bills too - from Google people who visit the site actually might get something useful out of them. I’m in the business of testing things out - Building my Empire is where I talk about it.

Of course I’m not going to please everyone. But I’m not afraid to backup why I did it. I’m not afraid to say that I’m working on the site to provide good content - useful content - for that site. I’ve just started. So of course it looks a bit bare. I’m looking to provide something that “human beings with Cancer” - not just Google Bots can use.

Do I know someone who’s died of cancer. The answer to that is yes.

… one more reason not to build a crap site.
