For my Gift Basket site, this week I plan to:
1. Write an article on making a great gift basket (unless I find another more “write-able” idea).
2. Submit article to article directories (3 if possible)
3. Add more products
4. Look into new domains to expand the site - but keep the focus on gift baskets exclusively… or should I do sub-domains for the other products… I’m debating over that one - any suggestions? anyone?
5. Find 2 link exchanges this week
… I think 5 things to do this week for this site is alot. So I’ll be letting you know the step by step - gory details on how this week progresses. I’m still looking for other topics / niches to follow and try my hand at. I really like working on crafty-sort-of-sites, where I can learn as I write… so I’m not bored. If you get my drift. This week - I’ve set my challenges… and now I’m going see what I can whip up

Good luck empress. I’m real curious how the “article submission” works for you. I’ve heard multiple people say good things about it and wanted to try it myself, just haven’t found the time yet.
Personally I’m moving towards buying domains less, and building on what I have already more. Especially if you’re considering similar topics, go with sub-folders or subdomains.
As always take my advice with a grain of salt, I’m still learning myself.
And for an example of the benefit of building on what you’ve already built: Look at the graph in this post
